More About Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken :

Ruby Gillman is a fifteen-year-old Kraken living with her family in a seaside town, in California, they are attempting to blend in with the local population despite their Kraken nature. Her mother, Agatha, has forbidden her to attend the high school prom, as it is held on a boat in the ocean, and Ruby initially refuses to go.

However, her friends, Margot and Trevin, persuade her to go, and she decides to ask her crush, Connor, to the prom. However, before she can do so, Connor experiences a mishap in which he falls into the ocean and Ruby jumps in to save him.

After Ruby places him on a boat ramp, Connor mistakenly believes that Ruby saved him, and the new girl, Chelsea Van der Zee, attempts to befriend Ruby, and Ruby transforms into a giant Kraken. In the process of transforming, Ruby destroys the library, and Chelsea stares in disbelief as Ruby runs toward the lighthouse.
