More About Supernatural Season 6:

The sixth season picks up a year after the events of the fifth season, with Dean and Lisa living a normal life together with Lisa’s son Ben. Sam returns to Earth mysteriously and miraculously, reuniting with Dean, leaving his new life behind as he works with his grandfather Samuel Campbell (his mother’s father) to capture the alpha monsters (the first of the gene pool)

Bobby recovers his soul from the crossroads demons of Crowley, who has seemingly become the king of Hell. Eventually, it is revealed that Samuel is obeying Crowley’s orders in exchange for Sam and Dean’s mother’s resurrection. Castiel is no longer able to be of any use to them due to the civil war in Heaven between Raphael and the archangel Michael (who is trying to take over Heaven and free both Michael and Lucie from the Cage and begin the Apocalypse again).
