More About The Days Season 1:

It is morally repugnant to criticize The Days, which is a calm, measured, and comprehensive account of the 2011 nuclear crisis and its consequences. The ingenuity and bravery of the personnel working at the plant at the time of the disaster, who remained on duty for a week after the incident to prevent a more devastating disaster, is to be commended. However, as a television programme, The Days has too much respect for itself; its attempt to omit nothing could lead viewers to abandon their seats in exhaustion.

The combination of the nuclear disaster with the tsunami (in addition to the already horrendous earthquake) is a bit of a shock, but it did happen, so we get to experience it. All of these events are part of what eventually led to the nuclear disaster at Fukushima.
