The series follows brotherly halves, Kate and Kevin, along with their espoused family Randall as their lives intertwine. Kate and Kevin were firstly part of a triplet gestation, conceived in a bar restroom during Super Bowl XIV; still, their natural family was stillborn. Their parents, Jack and Rebecca, intent on bringing home three babies, decide to borrow another infant (Randall), a black child who was born on the same day, and brought to the same sanitarium after his natural father abandoned him at a fire station.

Occurrences weave through the stories of the history and presence of the characters. The flashback occurrences take place in Pittsburgh, while the current time occurrences are resolved between Los Angeles, New Jersey, and New York City.

More About This Is Us Season 1:

The make-up to some of these dramatic moments is excellent and thankfully not dragged out for too long but This Is Us suffers as it deals with the fate of these issues it works so hard to make up to. In particular, one big shock interior through the series promises a ruinous, explosive homestretch but fizzles out after many occurrences and everything ( nearly) returns to normal. This is n’t a one-time thing either, with many moments like this feeling like game-changers for the series but come to nothing. At times it does feel a little too forced because of this which is a shame in a season that’s else veritably good. Thankfully, these moments are many and far between and the maturity of the season is full of memorable occurrences that score a knockout punch through to the apocalyptic, open ending.

This Is Us is simply brilliant entertainment. Despite a couple of minor plot issues, the circle of characters works really well together and produces so numerous strong performances its hard to single out one existent as outstanding. With regular exchanges sneaking explanatory laden lines that naturally niche into the script and lapping lines of dialogue, This Is Us impeccably captures a realistic definition of life and the show is all the stronger for it. There are some really emotional scenes then too and this wild lift of feelings you’ll feel whilst watching the show makes This Is Us one of 2016’s smartest family dramatizations on Television.
